I have marked several comments as SPAM (clicking "mark as spam" under these comments).
To get rid of SPAM I suggest to allow comments only from registered users.
for marking those spams. We considered allowing comments from registered users only - however, the drawback is that we would probably loose comments we care about - many mathematicians will not register to leave a short comment.
Just for information, we have automatic filters that are catching majority of the spams. They are not good enough, however, to deal with spams where the text is "random looking'.
